What if I need to cancel a class?
Because we are by an appointment or reservation only business, we honor a 24 hour cancellation notice to avoid being charged for the appointment or group reservation. Any and all changes to the schedule must be made 24 hours prior to your session.
Our classes are set up as semi-private personalized classes intended for a small group, with a maximum of 6 people in a class.
What do I do if I need to cancel but the studio is closed?
Leave a voicemail or send an email! Please do not respond to our marketing emails sent by constant contact, as we will not receive them in our inbox.
Everything is time stamped and someone will respond on the next open day.
Can I extend my package?
We understand that things come up for everyone but we will always recommend that you purchase a package that matches your schedule. Most of the MYB rates and Packages have an activation date and expiration date,
If you know that you are more of a traveler we recommend that you choose a package that has a longer expiration date.

Pilates as a practice

What is the difference between Pilates and yoga?
Pilates and Yoga are meant to be a practice and are very complimentary to each other!
Yoga is a deeply spiritual based movement practice that uses breathing, meditation, chanting, stretching and careful control of the body by focusing the mind to achieve an enhanced state of consciousness.

Pilates is a movement based practice, that uses breathing, stretching and careful control of the body by focusing the mind, hence the commonalities between the two practices. Pilates uses the idea of stability and mobility to improve flexibility and strength, while heightening awareness of muscle function and control.
How often do I need to do Pilates in order to see a result?
Joseph Pilates always said "In ten sessions, you will feel the difference, in twenty you will see the difference and in thirty you will have a whole new body.", and that is so true!  Because it is a practice, we recommend at least twice weekly, three is better. If less is done, it is still a practice that may keep your body well maintained. Everyday is not too much.
Is Pilates cardio?
Pilates is not aerobic, per say. Your heart rate can go up during certain exercises, and some cardio movements are done during your sessions.
Please consult your doctor if overhead movements are contraindicated or if any medications are heart-rate sensitive and we will work with you on that.
What should I wear
Any sort of athletic wear or clothing that you can move in but nothing too baggy as to not get caught in the springs.
The practice is done barefoot for tactile sensation through the feet but if you prefer you can wear grip socks, which we have available at our studio.
Can I do Pilates while pregnant?
Yes you can! We have a range of pre/post natal Pilates certified instructors who have the training and experience to help you with whatever you need.
You should have your doctor's consent and be mindful that doing Pilates Pre or Post has very specific instructions within the practice.
Does Pilates help me lose weight?
Pilates is a system of toning, that incorporates some cardiovascular exercise and should be compared to strength training. It will raise your heartbeat and warm you up and show you muscles you didn’t know you had. Pilates will change the shape of your body and make you look like you've lost pounds. It is not uncommon for clients to drop a dress size, even if their weight is the same on a scale.
I recently was injured/had surgery, can I do Pilates?
Yes! Once you have clearance from your doctor or a trained medical professional, you can take Pilates classes or private sessions. Pilates is a truly customizable experience that can really help some injuries.

Gyrotonic®️ as a practice

What is GYROTONIC®️?
The method was developed by Julio Horvath and contains elements of ballet, swimming, martial arts, and yoga. GYROTONIC®️ movements are very fluid, and there is a focus on spinal articulation and mobility. These exercises are three dimensional, so they challenge coordination and use complex patterns to challenge the nervous system. There is a special focus on the opening of the chest and many "office tight shoulders" have found relief through the circular movements. To find out more , visit gyrotonic.com.

MYB offers private lessons only in the GYROTONIC®️ method.

Hope To See You Soon!
