If you are familiar with Mind Your Body Pilates and GYROTONIC, you know that no-one is leaving Manhattan for good. Mind Your Body has been serving Manhattan’s Upper East Side as one of the best personalized Pilates studies for sixteen years and our Manhattan future looks good! However, it is nice to leave NYC every once in a while. What a better way to do it than to visit Big Sky Montana! Down hill skiing is another past-time of mine and boy did we luck out with the winter conditions at Big Sky with at least one foot of powder at the base!
Of course I will give ‘Ode to Pilates’ for my improved strength and balance in my new boots. I felt that I was standing upright and facing that scary direction, DOWN HILL! My legs felt strong and my core felt engaged as I glided smoothly through my S-turns. Doing Pilates with a personal trainer privately is the reason for my good posture, alignment and balance on my skis. I began skiing late in life. It is not something that comes naturally to me and I certainly do not want to fall at this stage in my life.
Many of Mind Your Body clients are skiers and they have all agreed that Pilates training has helped them tremendously.
Are you a skier? We’d like to hear your story. It doesn’t have to be about Pilates. Where are you skiing this year? Where is the snow? Do you Board? Cross-country? Snow-shoe? At Mind Your Body Pilates, we appreciate the athletic side and want you to share your ski (or other) stories with us.

Pilates Classes at Mind Your Body has become a “go-to” for my well-being… The caring, individualized and professional attention in privates, and well-chosen, variety and timing of excellent 5-person group classes (Tower-Mat Pilates or Reformer Pilates) make for the perfect menu. I feel and hold myself better and have total relief from sciatica. My gait has changed, for the better. I feel grounded, at the same time, erect, as my feet ground down and my spine elongates upward.
Thank you all, especeially Rachel Harvest!
