Patti
You have been a long term Pilates student and I am happy to hear that your Pilates classes are paying off for you in terms of strength, posture and balance. GYROTONIC is both a body strengthener and body opener! GYROTONIC would definitely work on similar issues such as posture, muscular imbalance, strength and flexibility. It could both strengthen the muscles around the joints and spinal column. Would I suggest it for you?, one who has extremely loose ligaments? I still say Pilates is the best answer for you. Take our friend, Ken: GYROTONIC would actually be great for him. Think it's time? We'll talk.... Thanks for your interest! -g Mind Your Body Upper East Side

I have a question regarding the difference between Pilates work and GYROTONIC. Through my work with pilates at the New York upper east side studio on Lexington avenue, I have developed more flexibility and strength, and developed a different sense of my posture and balance when I walk. Does gyrotonics focus on similar issues? Does GYROTONIC assist more with flexibility or with strengthening? Do both upper east side studios offer GYROTONIC as well as Pilates classes?

This past fall I began attending classes regularly at New York's upper east side Pilates studio, Mind Your Body Fitness, and now feel "more in my body" than I have in such a long time. I have more inner and core strength and my stamina for everything has increased greatly. I leave each class feeling conditioned from inside out and from head to toe.

I agree with everyone's posts- MYB has totally changed how I look at my posture, diet, and exercise routine. My running routine used to leave my hip flexors sore, but now my core-strength enables me to use my abs instead of relying on my hip flexors. I have also become much more flexible and feel like I have grown an inch in my new-found back and shoulder muscle strength! My instrcutors seem genuinely interested in my improvement and areas of weakness. I always look forward to my weekly sessions...and wish that I could come more!

Casey,
Thanks for sharing....
Finding that core muscle feeling is definitely an "aha" moment and takes time....
On the technical side of the core, one needs to engage the pelvic floor, the deepest ab set,
a muscle along the front side of the spine and have proper breath use of the diaphram.
It's no wonder it is not easy!! /So good for you. Your Pilats work will only get better from here
and should tone your glutes at the same time.
Happy pulling in~

I just recently realized how much weight I put on my hips on a daily basis. I need to use my muscles from my abs more, instead of just hanging out, so I am constantly sucking in my abs. This is a new 'aha' moment for me, but I feel that this is a big one.

I love taking pilates classes at Mind your Body. My booty has lifted and I feel more feminine with the change in my spine. I am flaunting it down the street. I am sure everyone has noticed...hehehhe : )
Mind Your Body is one of the best uptown Pilates studios in my neighborhood. (uppereastside-pilates)

I love your pilates classes, you have changed my body completely. I'm so much more opened and relaxed, especially in my upper back.
It has been so helpful to my busy life to have a new york pilates studio in my uppereast side neighborhood.
Thank you!!
