Joseph Pilates was certainly ahead of his time. His technique and equipment is still, in a way, just beginning. Developed in the 1950′s but today physical therapists, anatomists, instructors alike have evolved some of the Pilates information and structure. Not to say, the traditional Pilates technique is not fabulous and suffice on it’s own, as it could be. However, depending on the clients’ needs, I always find it valuable to have a diverse staff to meet the many needs of all the different body types and postural structures and imbalances. There is never one way to do anything and it is the same when training Pilates.
This month, Mind Your Body introduces, James Duus, who was trained very traditionally, well, from Romana and Sean Gallagher. It is good work and in many ways REFRESHING!! It’s nice to go back to tradition and original choreography because there is difinitely a logical method to it all!! James will gain popularity quite fast I am sure, as I know there are many die-hard traditionalists out there! WELCOME JAMES!! WELCOME BACK TO TRADITIONAL PILATES!!
